Cairn Hill

A well-defined drumlin in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Bar Hill rises to just beyond 50m (164 feet) between the less extensive Bar Hill and Knocknishie, a mile (1.5 km) south southeast of Sorbie. This is part of an extensive drumlin field, with a long tail (known as Kilpatrick's Hill) and its principal axis aligned NE-SW suggesting the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet which once covered this area. There are several other drumlins known as Cairn Hill nearby.
