Loch Hill

An elongated hogback in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Loch Hill rises to just beyond 65m (213 feet) to the north of the Dowalton Marshes, 2½ miles (4 km) west northwest of Sorbie. It takes its name from the former Dowalton Loch. This is one of a number of drumlins in this area, aligned NE-SW suggesting the direction of ice flow of an ancient glacier. There are other Loch Hills nearby, the closest being 3 miles (5 km) to the southwest and 4 miles (6.5 km) to the west northwest.
