Black Hill

A hogback in The Machars of Galloway, Black Hill rises to 110m (360 feet) on the edge of plantation forest, a mile (1.5 km) southeast of Loch Ronald and a similar distance west of Barskeoch Fell. This is part of an extensive drumlin field, aligned NNE-SSW suggesting the direction of glacial flow. There are several other nearby drumlins also called Black Hill; 2 miles (3 km) to the south southwest, 4½ miles (7 km) to the southwest, 7 miles (11 km) to the east and 8½ miles (14 km) to the east southeast, together with the Black Hill of Barmore only a half-mile (1 km) to the south southeast.
