Orchardton Hill

A little hogback in the SW of Dumfries and Galloway, Orchardton Hill rises to 47m (154 feet) to the southwest of Orchardton Farm, overlooking Baldoon Sands, 2½ miles (4 km) southeast of Kirkinner. This is part of an extensive drumlin field scattered across The Machars, with its principal axis aligned NNW-SSE indicating the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet.
