Carn Dearg

A Corbett peak in the Lochaber district of Highland Council Area, Carn Dearg means 'red hill' in Gaelic and rises to 768m (2519 feet) at the head of Glen Roy, 5 miles (8 km) east of the northern end of Loch Lochy. Carn Dearg Beag is located a half-mile (1 km) to the southeast. Confusingly, there are several other Carn Deargs in the vicinity; one reaching 815m / 2673 feet 1¼ miles (2 km) to the north northwest, another which rises to 834m (2736 feet) 4 miles (6.5 km) south, a third at 888m / 2913 feet 5 miles (8 km) to the southeast and a fourth which reaches 736m (2414 feet) 8½ miles (14 km) east northeast.
