Wood Hill

A summit within plantation forest in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Wood Hill rises to 77m (252 feet) 1¼ miles (2 km) south southwest of Kirkcowan. This is an example of a drumlin, one of a number hereabouts, with its principal axis aligned NNE-SSW indicating the direction of flow of an ancient ice sheet. There are others drumlins named Wood Hill only 3 miles (5 km) to the north northeast and 4 miles (6.5 km) to the east southeast.
