Big Challoch Hill

An oval summit in The Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, Big Challoch Hill rises to just beyond 70m (229 feet) 1½ miles (2.5 km) south of Kirkcowan. This is a well-defined drumlin, one of a number in this area, deposited under an ancient ice sheet and aligned N-S indicating the direction of flow. There are several other summits named Challoch Hill nearby, not least Little Challoch Hill a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the southeast.
