Scart Islands

A group of tiny wooded islets at the southern end of Mochrum Loch in Dumfries and Galloway, the Scart Islands lie to the north of Gargrie Island. They take their name from 'skarfr' the Old Norse for 'cormorant' and a breeding colony of these birds it still to be found on the loch.
