Cut Island

A little wooded riverine island in the River Cree in NW Dumfries and Galloway, Cut Island is located immediately to the north of Penninghame House, 3½ miles (5.5 km) north northwest of Newton Stewart. It has an area of 1.2 ha (3 acres). The eastern channel of the Cree is called The Cut, while a pair of much smaller islands lie in the channel to the west.
