One of four railway stations serving the town, Clydebank Railway Station (Gael: Bruach Chluaidh) serves both the Argyle Line and North Clyde Line in West Dunbartonshire and is located on Chalmers Street in the town centre, a half-mile (1 km) southeast of Dalmuir. The first Clydebank Station opened nearby in 1882 as the terminus of the Glasgow, Yoker & Clydebank Railway. The current two-platform station opened in 1897, known for many years as Clydebank Central. This was never a grand station, beginning as a pair of wooden passenger shelters serving each platform, and later replaced by a brick-built structure on one side only. An iron overbridge connects the platforms. The station sits on an embankment above road level and links to a bus stance on Chalmers Street below.
Now operated by ScotRail, Clydebank Railway Station is staffed part-time and is used by around 383,000 passengers per annum (2016), less busy than two of Clydebank's other stations; namely Dalmuir and Singer. Clydebank is preceded by Yoker Railway Station, a mile (1.5 km) to the southeast, and followed by Dalmuir, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the northwest.
