Dunfermline Town Railway Station

(Baile Dhùn Phàrlain)

The principal railway station in Dunfermline (Fife), Dunfermline Town (Gael: Baile Dhùn Phàrlain) lies on the Fife Circle Line, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) southeast of the town centre. This station opened in 1877 but rebuilt and extended 1889-90. Between 1968 and 2000, it was Dunfermline's only station. It is now preceded by Rosyth Railway Station, 2 miles (3 km) to the south southeast, and followed by Dunfermline Queen Margaret, 1½ miles (2.5 km) to the northeast. Operated by ScotRail, Dunfermline Town is staffed part-time and was used by 727,000 passengers in 2015.
