Shawlands Railway Station


(Fearann na Coille)

A two-platform halt on the western section of the Cathcart Circle Line in S Glasgow, Shawlands Railway Station (referred to as Fearann na Coille in Gaelic) is situated in Waverley Park, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west of Shawlands and a half-mile (1 km) northeast of Pollokshaws. It opened with the line in 1894 and comprises an island platform, located above street level, with utilitarian passenger shelters. It is preceded by Pollokshaws East Railway Station, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) to the south southeast, and followed by Maxwell Park, a half-mile (1 km) to the north northeast. Operated by ScotRail, Shawlands Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by 174,238 passengers per annum (2016-17), which reflects a steady increase in numbers from 140,608 in 2009-10.
