Shawfair Railway Station

A modern halt on the Borders Railway, Shawfair Railway Station lies a quarter-mile (0.4 km) northeast of Newton Village and a half-mile (1 km) east northeast of Danderhall. Shawfair actually lies ¾ mile (1.2 km) to the southwest. The station opened with the line in 2015 and was built by BAM Nuttall. It comprises two platforms serving the single-track line and a passing loop. It is operated by ScotRail and was used by 13,202 passengers in its first year, rising to 22,236 in 2016-17. Shawfair is preceded by Newcraighall, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the north northwest, while the next station is Eskbank, 2½ miles (4 km) to the south.
