Wee House

(Broon's Hoose)

A remarkable little house on Eilean na Craoibhe, a tiny islet in Little Loch Shin opposite Lairg, the Wee Hoose (also known as Broon's Hoose) is a tourist attraction which was built as a float for the Lairg Gala, some 20 years ago, and then placed here. However, presenter Paul Murton in his Grand Tours of Scotland’s Lochs (2017) perpetuates a fiction that the house was built by a local poacher, Jock Broon, in 1824 on the tiny island which was given to him by the local laird in return for being taught how to distill whisky.
