A modern box-girder bridge which conveys the A814 Glasgow Road across the River Leven in Dumbarton (West Dunbartonshire), the Artizan Bridge dates from 1974. The bridge comprises two carriageways, with wide pavements on both sides. It was constructed at a cost of £300,000 as part of a project to create an inner relief road within the town. The bridge was designed by Surrey-based architects Garner, Preston and Strebel, and built by Miller Construction, with Babtie, Shaw and Morton serving as the consulting engineers. The reinforced concrete deck sits on the girders, which are themselves supported by four reinforced concrete piers; two on land and two in the river.
