Fortissat Stone

(Covenanters' Stone)

A sizeable rounded rock by the roadside at Shuttlehill in North Lanarkshire, the Fortissat or Covenanters' Stone is located just to the north of Fortissat House, a half-mile (0.8 km) north northwest of HM Prison Shotts. Although of natural original, it is said to have been a meeting place for Covenanters from Shotts parish who fought at the Battle of Bothwell Bridge in 1697.
