Raasay and Rona War Memorial

A prominent obelisk within a small enclosure on the southwest coast of Raasay, the Raasay and Rona War Memorial commemorates the twenty-eight islanders who fell in the First and Second World Wars. The location gives fine views over the Narrows of Raasay to Skye. Standing 4.9m (16 feet) in height, the monument was erected through public subscription in 1920 and was constructed in grey Aberdeen granite on a rectangular base by Inverness-based monumental masons. It was restored in 2017.
