Meikle Wood Hill

An oval summit on the Threave Estate in S Dumfries and Galloway, Meikle Wood Hill overlooks the River Dee a mile (1.8 km) west of Castle Douglas and rises to 68m (223 feet). This is one of a number of drumlins which were deposited under an ancient ice sheet that once covered this area. It is aligned N-S indicating the direction of ice flow and it western slopes trimmed with woodland.
