Dunmuir Hill

A rounded summit of Dumfries and Galloway, Dunmuir Hill rises to 87m (285 feet) a half-mile (0.8 km) north of the centre of Castle Douglas. Identified as one of a number of drumlins in this area that were deposited under an ancient ice sheet, it is aligned N-S indicating the direction of ice flow. There is a communications mast on its summit, while Castle Douglas High School and its playing fields lie immediately to the north.
