Horse Hill

An oval summit of limited prominence in Dumfries and Galloway, Horse Hill rises to 79m (259 feet) to the southeast of Ernespie and 1¼ miles (2 km) northeast of Castle Douglas. This is formed on glacial till and is interpreted as a drumlin, one of a number in this area deposited under an ancient ice sheet. It is aligned NW-SE indicating the direction of ice flow. There is another Horse Hill 2 miles (3 km) to the southwest.
