One of a group of modest summits located to the north of Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway, Mid Hill rises to around 90m (295 feet) on the southwestern shoulder of Garden Hill, a mile (1.5 km) north of the town centre. There are other Mid Hills located a mile (1.5 km) to the southeast and 5½ miles (9 km) to the south.
