Bar Hill

A wooded summit lying to the northeast of Dalbeattie in Dumfries and Galloway, Bar Hill rises to 68m (225 feet). Forestry and Land Scotland manage a plantation forest which covers the hill, crossed by a network of paths and tracks that provide popular walks. The Bar Hill Plantations extend to 42 ha (104 acres) and comprise a core of commercial Sitka spruce and Douglas fir screened by mature Beech and Silver birch. There is also Scots pine, oak and occasional sycamore, with frequent holly and patches of rhododendron in the understorey.
