Lynebank Hospital

A community hospital on Halbeath Road in Dunfermline, Lynebank Hospital was designed by Alison and Hutchison & Partners, built at a cost of £1.7 million and officially opened on 9th May 1969 by Princess Alexandra. It began as a large mental hospital but has shrunk in size as policies for care in the community came to the fore in the later 20th C. It now serves as a specialist hospital for adults with learning disabilities, with additional facilities for younger people, speech therapy, diet and health, and administrative services for NHS Fife.
