Discovery Centre

An aluminium-clad utilitarian building within Mintlaw Industrial Estate on Station Road in Mintlaw, the Discovery Centre serves as purpose-built headquarters, stores and a technical workshop complex for Aberdeenshire Museums Service. It opened in 2005, constructed with a substantial grant from Heritage Lottery Fund. This state-of-the-art facility includes 810 sq. m (8720 sq. feet) of environmentally-controlled storage space, which houses items ranging from art to botanical specimens. Much of the Aberdeenshire's substantial fine art collection is housed here. The building acts as the base for education activities and it is open for tours.
