Sheep Isle, an islet of Kilbrandon parish, Argyllshire, 1 mile NW of Seil, and 5¼ miles SW of Kerrera. It measures 7 by 2 furlongs, and has an abrupt rocky boundary of low cliffs. It forms a connecting link between Mull on the one hand, and Seil and Kerrera on the other. Its name of Sheep Isle is a fictitious one, given it by map-makers; whilst Inis-Capul, its real name, in the translated form of Mare Island has been erroneously applied to the Garvelloch islands, 6 miles to the SSW. Pop. (1871) 4, (1881) 2.
