Parish of Aboyne and Glen Tanar

Aboyne and Glen Tanar is a parish, which lies in Aberdeenshire Council Area, some 12 miles (20 km) west of Banchory and 22 miles (35 km) east of Braemar in Aberdeenshire.

It is located in the old county of Aberdeenshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 102.7 sq. km (39.6 sq. miles). Aboyne and Glen Tanar has 7 neighbouring parishes; namely Birse, Coull, Glenmuick Tullich & Glengairn, Kincardine O'Neil, Lochlee, Logie-Coldstone and Lumphanan. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
