Kirkcaldy and Dysart is a coastal parish, which lies in Fife Council Area, some 4 miles (7 km) south of Glenrothes and 11 miles (18 km) east of Dunfermline in Fife.
It is located in the old county of Fife, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.
The parish has an area of 39.1 sq. km (15 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Kirkcaldy. Kirkcaldy and Dysart has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Auchterderran, Auchtertool, Kinghorn, Kinglassie, Markinch and Wemyss. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889 and again by the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1894.
