Parish of Linlithgow

(St Michael)

Linlithgow is a parish, which lies in West Lothian Council Area, some 5 miles (8 km) northwest of Livingston and 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Bathgate in West Lothian. It is also known as St Michael.

It is located in the old county of West Lothian, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 42.1 sq. km (16.2 sq. miles). Linlithgow has 6 neighbouring parishes; namely Abercorn, Bathgate, Bo'ness & Carriden, Ecclesmachan, Muiravonside and Torphichen. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
