Parish of Kilcalmonell

Kilcalmonell is a coastal parish, which lies in Argyll and Bute Council Area, some 18 miles (29 km) west of Rothesay in Argyll and Bute and 19 miles (31 km) northwest of Brodick in North Ayrshire.

It is located in the old county of Argyllshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 116.8 sq. km (45.1 sq. miles) and includes the settlement of Tarbert. Kilcalmonell has Killean & Kilchenzie, Saddell & Skipness and South Knapdale as its neighbouring parishes. The boundaries of this parish were modified among significant changes recommended by the Boundary Commissioners after the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1889.
