Parish of Rutherglen

Rutherglen is a small parish, which lies on the River Clyde in South Lanarkshire Council Area, some 3 miles (4 km) southeast of Glasgow in Glasgow City and 5 miles (7 km) north of East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire.

It is located in the old county of Lanarkshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 8.7 sq. km (3.3 sq. miles). Rutherglen has 4 neighbouring parishes; namely Cambuslang, Carmunnock, Cathcart and Govan.
