Merchant, politician and landowner. Warrender inherited the Bruntsfield estate in Edinburgh and became Lord Provost of the city (1713-14). A loyal supporter of the Hanoverian government, he was created Baronet of Lochend (in East Lothian) by King George I in 1715. He went on to serve as Member of Parliament for Edinburgh between 1715 and his death.
He died in London, where he lies buried at Bunhill Fields.
