Journalist and broadcaster. Born in Singapore, the daughter of a self-made industrialist, who came from Hopeman (Moray), Bruce was educated at the International School in Rome and the Haberdashers' Aske's Hatcham College in London. She went on to study French and Italian at Hertford College, Oxford. She joined the BBC as a researcher in 1989 and was a reporter on Breakfast News by 1992. After a period in regional news with BBC South East, she joined the flagship Six O'Clock News as a presenter in 1999, subsequently also working on the BBC News at Ten.
Her other television work includes Crimewatch, Antiques Roadshow, Panorama, Public Eye and Real Story, while she has also presented programmes on BBC Radio 2 and the BBC World Service.
Her Hopeman roots featured in the BBC series Who Do You Think You Are? in 2009.
Bruce lives with her family in North London.
