Eric Robson


1946 -

Radio and television broadcaster. Born in Newcastleton in the Scottish Borders, Robson was educated at Carlisle Grammar School and has spent most of his life in Cumbria, where he has owned a farm in Wasdale in the Lake District since 1984. He joined Border Television in 1966, but is best known as the host of BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time, a role he took on in 1994. He is an enthusiast for Alfred Wainwright and his Lake District fell-walking guides and launched Wainwright Society in 2002. Robson's autobiography Outside Broadcaster was published in 2007. He also contributed to the book Great Railway Journeys of the World (1981), based on the BBC television series of the same name made the previous year.
