Wrestler. Born in Gorodiste in Moldova, Etko came to Scotland via Romania and London, as an economic migrant, initially settling in Glasgow. He married Scottish gymnast Laura Davies. Etko achieved success in the British Open Championships (2006), the Commonwealth Championship (2009) and the English Open Championships (2014), but was unable to compete in the Melbourne Commonwealth Games (2006) because he had not gained a British passport. He went on to compete in Delhi (2010), coming fifth, but he won a bronze medal in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games of 2014, Scotland's first commonwealth wrestling medal since 1994.
With his wife, he owns a gym in Oldmeldrum (Aberdeenshire) and also serves as assistant national coach at Scottish Wrestling.
