Kevin McKidd


1973 -

Actor. Born in Elgin (Moray), the son of a plumber, McKidd was educated at Elgin Academy and Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh, where he trained in drama. He joined the University of Edinburgh's student theatre company at the Bedlam Theatre.

His first major role was in Trainspotting (1996) but he went on star in the BBC mini-series Anna Karenina (2000) and the historical drama series Rome (2005-07) before settling in the USA. There he starred in the NBC series Journeyman (2007) and Grey's Anatomy (2008) for ABC.

He served as Grand Marshal of the New York Tartan Day Parade in 2013 and now lives in Los Angeles.
