Jerry Sadowitz

Comedian and magician. Although born in New Jersey (USA), into a Jewish family, Sadowitz was brought up in Glasgow. Following the breakdown of his parent's marriage, his mother returned to her native Scotland. A sickly child, Sadowitz took an interest in magic while still at school, but is now renowned for his sarcasm and the complete lack of political-correctness in his comedy. Although a regular at the Edinburgh Festival, he is now based in London, performing in various theatres and having undertaken a memorable run at the Comedy Store.

Sadowitz has had television success with The Pall Bearer's Revue on BBC2, together with his own chat-show, The People vs. Jerry Sadowitz, and The Jerry Atrick Show on Channel 5.

Unkempt in appearance and sporting a top hat, his humour is unpredictable, controversial and often offensive, his audience diverted only by the interspersed magic. However, Sadowitz has gathered a cult following and was described by the Guardian newspaper as 'the best comedian in Britain'.
