2018 European Championships

2018

The cities of Glasgow and Berlin (Germany) jointly hosted the inaugural European Championships between the 2nd and 12th August, 2018. This new multi-sport event brought together the existing European Championships for Athletics, Aquatics, Cycling, Gymnastics, Rowing and Triathlon with a new Golf Team Championships. Berlin hosted the athletics, while the other sports took place in Glasgow and Central Scotland. Existing venues were used for most events including the Scotstoun Sports Campus, Tollcross International Swimming Centre, Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, SSE Hydro, Strathclyde Country Park, Cathkin Braes Country Park, together with the Gleneagles PGA Centenary Course and the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh. The Glasgow BMX Centre was purpose-built for the Championships and will provide a lasting legacy for the sport in Scotland. Open water swimming events were held on Loch Lomond.
