Harbour Arts Centre

Describing itself as the cultural hub of North Ayrshire, the Harbour Arts Centre is located on Harbour Street in Irvine. The core of the building dates from 1888 and served as a seaman's chapel, but was converted 1973-74 by the Irvine Development Corporation. Re-opened in 2006 following a major refurbishment and extension funded by the National Lottery and North Ayrshire Council, the Centre now provides space of art exhibitions, lectures, theatre, comedy, art and drama classes. It also includes a bar which offers a programme of live music. Nearby are the Courtyard Studios, a purpose-built artists' complex.
