The House of Dun, Angus

A Georgian mansion house in Angus, situated to the west of Montrose overlooking the Montrose Basin. It was designed and built by William Adam in 1730 for David Erskine, Lord Dun. The house, which has superb plasterwork by Joseph Enzer, has associations with Lady Augusta Kennedy-Erskine, a natural daughter of William IV and Mrs Jordan. The property, including 361 ha (893 acres) of woodlands and farm land, was bequeathed to the National Trust for Scotland in 1980 by Mrs M.A.A. Lovett.
