Holm of Faray

(Holm of Fara)

A small uninhabited island between Westray and Eday lying to the north of the Orkney Mainland, the Holm of Faray (also Holm of Fara) lies to the north of Faray, from which it is separated by the narrow Lavey Sound. Extending to 33.2 ha (82 acres) and reaching a height of 19m (62 feet), the island provided additional grazing for the crofters of Faray.
