Strathaven Cemetery

Occupying a prominent position on the slopes of Kirkhill overlooking the centre of Strathaven in South Lanarkshire, this graveyard opened in 1659, although it thought to have been used for burials long before that. Comprising four distinct sections, representing different periods, it remains in use to this day. There are two Covenanter memorials; one to William Dingwall who was killed at Drumclog (1679) and another to William Paterson and John Barrie. There is also a memorial to James 'Purlie' Wilson, a local weaver who took part in the Radical Rising of 1820 and who was executed on Glasgow Green.

Close by is the Strathaven War Memorial (1922).
