Palmerston Park, Dumfries

A football stadium on Terregles Street in Maxwelltown, Dumfries, Palmerston Park is the home of Queen of the South Football Club. Built in 1919, the stadium has a capacity of 6412, but with only 3509 seats, the remainder of the spectators are accommodated standing in traditional, although increasingly rare, terraces. The modern East stand is all-seated. The capacity was once much greater, the record being 26,552 in 1952. A stand at the south end, which was historically occupied by 'away' supporters, is no longer used and has fallen into disrepair.

The club were Scottish League Cup semi-finalists in the 1950-51 and 1960-61 seasons. They won the Bell's League Challenge Cup in 2002-03. For the first time in their history, the team reached the Scottish Cup Final in 2008, losing 3-2 to Rangers.

In 1999, Palmerston Park was used as a location for the film A Shot at Glory, starring Robert Duvall and footballer Ally McCoist (b.1962). The Dumfries Ice Bowl lies immediately to the east of the stadium.
