Waulkmill Glen Reservoir

The northeasternmost of a group of five reservoirs situated between Barrhead and Newton Mearns in East Renfrewshire, Waulkmill Glen lies next to Ryat Linn Reservoir and is retained by an earth embankment dam. Opened in 1848, it is part of a scheme instituted by the Gorbals Gravitation Water Company in 1846 to supply the south of Glasgow with drinking water. Now operated by Scottish Water, it covers an area of 24.6 ha (60 acres).
