Darnick Tower

A tower-house in Darnick in the Scottish Borders, Darnick Tower is one of several towers in the vicinity, but the only one which is complete and occupied. A property of the Heiton family, dating from the 15th century, it was destroyed in 1545 by Edward Seymour, the Earl of Hertford (1539 - 1621), but rebuilt in 1595. It comprises three storeys and a garret, with a projecting stair-tower featuring a caphouse and watch-chamber.

The Darnick estate was inherited by Perth-based architect Andrew Heiton (1823-94), who restored the tower.
