The shortest of the Turnberry golf courses, the 9-hole Arran course is located a half-mile (1 km) north of the village. It is par-31 and extends to 1996 yards (1825m) in length. Opened in 2002, this course included a proportion of a former Arran Course, constructed in 1909. This had originally been Turnberry's second, or New Course, but was badly damaged during both World Wars when the runways of RAF Turnberry were built across it. It was rescued by golf-course architect Mackenzie Ross (1890 - 1974) in the 1950s, but the majority was redeveloped as an 18-hole course in 2001 and renamed the Kintyre Course.
The Arran Course is used primarily for teaching the game, operated in conjunction with the Colin Montgomerie Links Golf Academy by the Turnberry Resort, which also run the adjacent Ailsa and Kintyre courses.
