Torosay Castle

Torosay Castle was built in 1858 for John Campbell and was originally known as Duart House, its name was changed to Torosay after restoration work was undertaken on Duart Castle. It is located at Craignure on the island of Mull, Argyll and Bute. It is Victorian Baronial in design and although built for Campbell, he was forced to sell it less than 10 years later to the Guthrie family, who have since retained ownership. There are many displays within the castle covering family history, taxidermy and sporting achievements. The grounds of the castle cover 5 ha (12 acres) and include a Japanese Garden, terraced gardens and a statue walk. The castle can be reached by a narrow gauge railway from Craignure pier.
