Cragganmore Distillery

A distillery located at Cragganmore (Moray), by Ballindalloch and close to the junction of the Rivers Avon and Spey, 14 miles (22.5 km) northeast of Grantown on Spey and 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Aberlour. This Speyside Malt is regarded as one of the Classic Malts. Built in 1870, the distillery was rebuilt in 1902. Having begun in private hands, it was sold to the Glenlivet Distillery Company in 1923. Capacity was doubled in 1967 and by the following year it was owned by the Distillers Company, which was acquired, through merger, by its current owners the drinks multi-national Diageo.

Cragganmore is notable as the first distillery in Scotland to transport its whisky to market by railway (opened 1863), although the Strathspey Railway here has subsequently been closed and dismantled.

The distillery offers tours of the facilities, an exhibition and a shop.
