Branchton Railway Station (Gael: Brainsdean) lies on the Inverclyde Line, a quarter-mile (0.4 km) south southeast of Inverclyde Royal Hospital and 1½ miles (2.5 km) west southwest of Greenock. This station was opened in 1967 by British Rail and comprises a solitary platform serving a single-track line. It is preceded by IBM Railway Station, 1¼ miles (2 km) to the southwest, and followed by Drumfrochar, a similar distance to the east. Operated by ScotRail, Branchton Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by 93,632 passengers per annum (2009-10).
