Fearn Railway Station


(Manachainn Rois)

A rural railway station in Easter Ross, Fearn (Gael: Manachainn Rois) is situated on the Far North Line of the Highland Railway, a mile (1.5 km) west northwest of Hill of Fearn and 1½ miles (2.5 km) north northeast of Arabella. This station was opened in 1864 on the Inverness & Aberdeen Junction Railway. A simple shelter is provided for passengers on a solitary platform servicing a single-track line. The original station buildings remain but have been put to alternative uses. Now operated by ScotRail, Fearn Railway Station is unstaffed and is used by only around 5000 passengers per annum (2016). It is preceded by Invergordon Railway Station, 9½ miles (15 km) to the southwest, and followed by Tain, 3½ miles (5.5 km) to the northwest.
