Located in the Cross, opposite Dunblane Cathedral, the Dunblane Museum was established in 1943 in barrel-vaulted rooms in what was once the Dean's House. The museum has grown to include eight downstairs rooms in a Grade-A listed building which dates from 1624. It contains archives, artefacts, books and paintings, together with records of interest to those researching their family history. While the emphasis of the museum mainly relates Dunblane society and to ecclesiastical history, particularly the history of Dunblane Cathedral, there is also a nationally important collection of almost 7000 communion tokens collected from all over the world. There is also a the 4000 year-old cannel coal necklace, discovered in a local quarry.
The museum is maintained by the Dunblane Museum Trust.
